Crew Finder
The club’s matchmaking board. Skippers post when they’re short-handed, and anyone who wants to get on the water posts when they’re free. You do not need to own a boat, and you do not need to have sailed before.
Sample listings shown for layout. The live board will pull from member submissions — see the README for the two ways to wire this up.
On the boat
What crew actually do
Every boat is different, but on a Wednesday night these are the jobs that need filling. None of them require prior experience on day one.
Rail meat
Sit on the windward rail and move when told. It sounds like a joke; it is genuinely the difference between a boat that points and one that doesn’t.
Jib trim
Sheet in on the beat, ease on the reach, and tack the sail across when the skipper calls it. You’ll pick it up in one evening.
Foredeck
Headsail changes, spinnaker sets and douses, and calling the distance to the windward mark. The wettest and most satisfying seat on the boat.
Race committee
Set the line, run the sequence, record finishes. The fastest way to understand racing properly — and every club runs on the people who volunteer for it.
